***Please note that per state licensure statutes and licensing regulation bodies, you must select a therapist that is licensed in the state in which you reside. You must also physically be in that state in order to attend telehealth sessions.

I’m Sydney Bartel, a LICENSED Professional COunselor.

I believe that reaching out for support is an act of courage and a sign of strength. I bring warmth, authenticity and genuine compassion to my work, creating a space where you can feel comfortable showing up as you are—without judgment or the pressure to have everything figured out.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, tailoring therapy to you and your unique needs. I am trained in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), mindfulness-based therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory and humanistic person-centered therapy. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and I value working collaboratively with you to find what feels most helpful and meaningful for you.

My therapeutic philosophy stems from the belief that all parts of us deserve to be seen, understood and met with compassionate curiosity. I believe that both our strengths and mistakes make us beautifully human. My hope is that, over time, you can begin to see yourself with the same compassion we so often extend to others. I believe that our identities, communities and the world around us can deeply shape our experiences and our mental health. My commitment to social justice is an important part of how I show up as a therapist. I strive to practice with cultural humility, curiosity and an awareness of the ways that systems of power, privilege, oppression and marginalization can affect our lives and access to care. I believe every person deserves to feel respected, valued and safe in the therapy room.
